Come and learn how to carve a lovely spoon with Henry in this practical and hands-on workshop. Spoon carving is a pastime that allows you to slow down and enjoy a process working with wood, whilst learning with your hands. There's nothing quite like creating something that will last and can be used as part of ones daily life for years to come!

During this workshop you will learn all the basics of spoon carving from how to create a blank, safely handle your tools, how to read the grain of the wood, as well as plenty of handy cutting techniques and finishing tips.

We’ll start the practical aspect with a big stretch before moving on to work on and try out a few knife techniques, beginning by playfully creating some lovely long meditative springy peels! Finally you’ll set about carving a spoon to take away with you, using a mora knife and a crooked knife.

This is a great workshop designed to get you up and going so that you can whittle the winter months away. All tools, materials and blanks are provided and no prior knowledge or experience is necessary.

Refreshments and a simple soup lunch will also be provided on the day.

Henry Neville Wood is a wood carver and sculptor originally from the Isle of Man in the Irish Sea. Always with the taste for adventure Henry has carved on tiny Swedish Islands on Bulgarian mountains and in Australian barns. He now calls London home, where he is lucky enough to carve next to the Heath.
